My flash doesn't work on my vivitar camera?

i got a vivitar digital camera, vivicam 7020, for christmas, and up till now it has worked great. but suddenly the flash doesn't work. the lightning bolt in a circle on the display screen just stays there when i press the flash button. it's like it's just stopped working! :( how do i fix it and get the flash to work again?
