Hot Flashes during period?

I had a hot flush today at work.I actually felt myself stumbling.It scared me because this has never happened before.My period has been on for one day.Alot of people saying they were pregnant or found out they were pregnant when it happened.But my period is on and my test was negative.They are also saying I should take more test.Is it possible to be pregnant or am I having a hormonal balance?
