HELP! Will my German Shepard warm up to my St Bernard pup?

My German shepard (Sultan) is 1 yr old and i just got a St Bernard pup today....the meeting did not go well. Sultan was not impressed, barked very loudly, growled, snarled etc. i know i should have introduced them on neutral territory but it was late and wasnt possible..will this subside or will i have to return the pup?
