What should i do my dog snapped and growled at me?

Charlie (my dog) sleeps on me and my brothers bed. One day he was in my bed and jake came to transfer him to his bed. Charlie lifted his muzzle thing and snarled at my brother. I told him to leave but he didn't budge. I pushed and he snapped at me(i know its not the smartest move and don't tell me about it.) Jake put his hand over the dogs muzzle and had to drag him out. We put him into the crate. How should we handle this? and What should are next step be? Charlie's never done that before typicaly he's a very loving dog.
